ThinTanks Founders’ story

The thought of having to install a circular rainwater tank in the backyard of a modern home led to the conclusion there was a need for a more environmentally appealing solution.
The obvious answer was to make a rainwater tank that looked like a fence. Once the decision was made, it automatically followed that the tank was made as thin as possible. A modern and stylish tank is an excellent space-saving solution.
The final design decision was to somehow duplicate the appearance of a fence. The result was the 1000 Litre ThinTanks with fence columns between each tank using more than one water tank as a dividing fence.

Installation
The water tanks can be laid on sloping ground, along the length of the tank. Surface must be horizontal (Level) across the width of the tank to allow the sides of the tank to be vertical.

Mark the position of support poles and excavate holes for 75mm x 50mm x 2400mm long posts.
Holes to be 300mm in diameter and 600mm deep.
Lay concrete slab/pavers between holes.
Position 150mm PVC sleeves and concrete around the outside of sleeves and up to the slab/paver.
Once the concrete has been set, slide the tank into position up against the vertical post. When correctly positioned, the tank should sit flush with the post and be held in place by the end recess.

2000 Litre S2 ThinTanks - Against the Wall Installation Guide
On an existing pavement, sloping away from the wall, the surface must be built up to ensure the tank face is vertical and the back of the tank is flush against the wall.
Position the first tank on the prepared base and wall using brackets WB01-A on each end.
Place brackets approximately 1400mm above the base.
Wall brackets need to be fixed to the wall using Dyna Bolts on both ends of the brackets.
Maintenance
Our rainwater storage units require very little maintenance, provided they are correctly installed.
Typical maintenance requirements include:
Cleaning of the first flush device every 3-6 months
Removing leaf debris from gutters and roofs every 3-6 months
Checking insect screens each year
Ensuring that water is not pooling in the vicinity of your Thintank
Checking sediment levels every two years and cleaning out all the dirt accumulated from the roof and the sediment build-up (called “sludge”) that has accumulated at the bottom. (While sludge is generally not harmful, it can cause problems if it enters your pump or household pipes (you don’t want to ingest it)
